Dumpster Rules & Disposal Guide
Know before you load. Review our full guidelines for accepted materials, prohibited waste, specialty item policies, and loading rules to avoid extra charges and keep your rental in compliance.
Heavy Materials Restrictions
The Clean Concrete Guarantee: We offer a specialized no-weight-limit fee guarantee strictly and solely for containers filled with 100% clean concrete or 100% clean asphalt. Mixing brick, dirt, or any other debris into the container voids this exemption.
Brick is excluded from the clean concrete exception and incurs additional disposal charges. Dirt, soil, and sand processing fees fluctuate based on local landfill mandates and seasonal availability.
Mixed heavy loads do not qualify for exemptions and are subject to full overage rates based on scale tickets.
Prohibited Hazardous Materials
The following items cannot be placed in a dumpster under any circumstances per California environmental regulations:
- Wet paint, stains, solvents, lacquers
- Car batteries, motor oil
- Household chemicals, hazardous waste, fuel
- Asbestos and toxic materials
Burnt Wood & Fire Debris
Accepted with strict conditions. To prevent container fire hazards, a mandatory local fire department waiting/cooling period must be fully observed before hauling. Additional landfill processing surcharges apply; office must be notified prior to ordering.
Treated Lumber & Fence Posts
Due to chemical preservation hazards, these materials are accepted in small amounts only and are subject to facility processing surcharges. Please notify your driver at the time of delivery or pickup.
Hazardous Disposal Alternatives
Since we cannot accept hazardous waste, we recommend:
- Fresno County Household Hazardous Waste Facility — Provides completely free residential drop-off disposal for household chemicals, electronics, motor oils, and automotive batteries to all local county residents.
- Retail Paint Stewardship Programs — Most major paint and home improvement retailers in Fresno and Clovis accept leftover house paint, stains, and varnishes at no charge. Contact your local retailer to confirm daily volume limits.
Specialty Items (Itemized Surcharges Apply)
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Refrigerators, freezers, AC units | Freon-extraction fee required by state law |
| Water heaters | Fixed item processing surcharge |
| Mattresses & box springs | Per-item handling charge per current facility rates |
| Automotive tires | Billed per tire; office must be notified before delivery; transport quantity legally restricted |
| Dumpster liner (liquid containment) | Required for debris that may leak; must be requested before driver dispatches |
The "Level Load" Tarping Rule
All debris must remain at or below the top rim of the container. By law, all loads must be tarped before entering public highways. Overfilled dumpsters cannot legally be hauled — an avoided-pickup trip fee will apply.
